Info: The Winchester Rifle was originally designed and adopted in 1866 as the Model 1866 with a brass receiver, the Model 1866 was known as the “Yellow Boy”. After the success of the Model 1866, the rifle underwent a number of changes. The next rifle produced by Winchester was the Model 1873. It was marketed as “The Gun that Won the West”. The most noticeable change from the 1866 to the 1873 was the adoption of a steel receiver.
